Where It All Started

“Every caravan has a story, and ours began with a single favour for a friend.”

Suffolk Caravans began at Sheepdrift Farm near Martlesham, just outside Ipswich in Suffolk.

Back in the 1960s, the farm was bought by Jack when the land was little more than wild heathland. A few years later, the farm was taken over by his son Andy, who spent decades building and developing the business and a place that felt rooted in the community.

The caravan side of things started in a very simple and local way.

A friend asked if they could store a caravan on the farm.

... It was a simple request, but that single caravan became two, then three, then a quiet line of them tucked neatly along the fence as word gradually spread.

As more people looked for secure caravan storage in Suffolk, it became clear that people didn’t just want space. They wanted somewhere safe, convenient and reliable. They wanted somewhere run by people they genuinely trusted.

At the same time, Andy and his wife were caravan owners themselves. They understood first-hand the preparation, maintenance and organisation that often comes with caravan ownership.

That real-world experience helped shape the business into what it is today.
